Kawaguchi-ko Music Forest Museum – What an Elegances Music
Everyone in this world should know music box. Even you don’t have interest in classical music, sure you have ever heard Pachelbel’s Canon or Fur Elise from music box. I always want a music box with a beautiful ballerina inside!
At first I never think how music box until one of Kagetsu staff (Shimizu-san) told how she loves music box. She asked about my day off and unexpectedly we had day off in the same day so she said she will introduce me the elegance about music box through Music Forest Museum (Orugo-ru no mori) in Lake Kawaguchi (Kawaguchi-ko).
In music forest we can see the history of the music box from time to time. We can also see how music box works. To make a sound, music box has pins on the disc or the cylindrical tube that rotated and the pin will come into contact with the combs and connecting it to the sound source. You know, that's amazing!
They have a history hall that show some of their music box collections, including the Philharmonic Orchestrion "Titanic Model". Philharmonic Orchestrion "Titanic Model" is a musical box that was supposed to go with the Titanic in 1912 but was canceled for some reason. All I can said WOW! And they hold concerts every day here, and there's always a special concert from famous musicians every month.
Not only that, they have Organ Hall and it is the largest Organ Hall in the world! You have to see! The music will inspire your spirit.
After that they showed art performance that can always hold my heart. SAND ART! At that time they showed the story of Tsuru no Ongaeshi (Japanese Folktale)
Do not forget the souvenirs !! Come in and see how they all seduce you to take them home: D
The unique point is, the entrance ticket has yellow spots. It is a music pattern, a simple system to understand how the music box works. Make hole in the yellow spots and try to listen music that made by the pattern on the second floor of the souvenir building! Soooo impressed!
