A dazzling night - Summer festival in Yamanashi
Ciao readers! How are you?
It is my second week here in Yamanashi and I had the opportunity to see this beautiful event called Hanabi taikai (花火大会) or firework festival.
On August 21st the 54th Isawa Onsen Fireworks Festival was held, closing the Isawa Onsen fireworks season.
All people gathered at Fuefuki river to enjoy time together with delicious street food and good music.
What you have to do at this kind of event?
First! Wear a yukata!
For those who don’t know what it is, a yukata (浴衣) is a casual version of the kimono with a lot of patterns and colours. At this kind of event, you can spot a lot of people wearing it. You can buy it or choose to rent it.
It is not required to wear a yukata but I think it is an added value to this experience where you can appreciate Japanese culture.
Second! Buy drinks&food. Near the event spot, there are a lot of stands, you can watch fireworks while eating a flavoured fried chicken or refresh yourself with al kakigōri (かき氷), a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavoured with syrup.
Last but not least! Or maybe is the most important point? Find the best spot to watch the show.
You can buy tickets for seating near the river (more info in the official site linked down below), find a free spot by yourself where put your blanket or you can simply stand up. I will not suggest the last two options cause for the free spot you have to go to the event place at least one hour or more before the start and also the event lasts for 1 hour. We want to relax and not have sore feet at the end of the event, right?
Did you take notes? Good! Now you can enjoy this magic summer night and be mesmerized by the music and the beautiful colours that will light up the sky.
